AUTOMOTIVE
DIVISION

In 1992 Crossland’s Automotive Division is founded, taking on the exclusive representation of the prestigious Indian firm Bajaj Auto Ltd., that country's foremost producer of two- and three-wheelers.

At that time, when Peru was going through a serious financial crisis marked by high levels of unemployment, Crosland saw an opportunity to provide work via a new conception of transportation covering short stretches and local routes, aimed at those who could not afford to travel by taxi.

Crosland’s business culture allowed it to rapidly introduce auto-rickshaws to the Peruvian market, with sales proving so high that Bajaj is now Peru’s biggest-selling brand of three-wheeler. Crosland's secret in attaining this success is down to:

  • Representing the world's biggest brand of three-wheelers.
  • Offering competitive prices.
  • Guaranteeing extensive technical and logistics support to ensure the availability of spares and technical services within the reach of customers.
  • Seeking financing mechanisms that enable the banking system to be used to grant loans to auto-rickshaw buyers.

At present, Crosland is the exclusive representative of Bajaj in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile, and of Kawasaki in Peru. Crosland has approximately 230 sales points, 230 technical service workshops, and 400 spares sales points in the major small-vehicle markets throughout Peru. To date, more than 140 thousand Bajaj vehicles have been sold and over 3,700 mechanics trained.
